Ok Reviewer: Anonymous 04-28-2007 Not bad, not perfect. There is room for improvemetn. But there are many otehr sites that are a littel better. |
help me get an job Reviewer: Anson Bentley 03-25-2007 Monster help me get the job I have now!!! |
Great! Reviewer: Anonymous 09-07-2005 After deciding to move to Chicago, I submitted my resume on The Monster Board, and also applied at a few temp services. After about a month, I had taken a temporary position at Amoco working in place of an Administrative Assistant in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department. During that temporary position I applied for a job at Koenig & Strey, a large real estate company in the Chicagoland area. The same day that I applied I got a phone call from the Office manager and set up an interview time. After interviewing at Koenig & Strey, I decided to take the job. I have been there for almost 6 months now and I really like it. I never expected to find a job on my own. |
It Works Reviewer: Anonymous 09-07-2005 I signed up a few weeks ago and my resume has already been viewed three times. Also one employer called me and offered me a job. I was in total shock.

Met Great People Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2005 I have had nothing but good luck w/ Monster. I have been on the job seekers forum for over a year now and have met some spectacular people. I am also been on the employer side of it too. I have never had a problem w/ receiving a resume, although they do not tell you if you are. The price that an employer has to pay to have one password (can only be used by one person or you are double charged)anually is outrageous though. I can not tell you on here, but I will tell you that you could buy a brand new cheap car w/ it.

Not recommended Reviewer: Anonymous 12-07-2004 I wouldn't recommend Monster.com for those who want a job. There is a huge percentage of temp agencies that post on here and the jobs they post aren't usually up to date anyhow. They are to lure you to their agency. |
helpful Reviewer: Anonymous 12-07-2004 After only having my resume online for only 2 short weeks, I had 27 companies or potential employers view my resume. I would definitely recommend monster.com to anyone seriously looking for a job. |
Just hype Reviewer: Anonymous 09-16-2004 Not one response was given to all the applications I put in. I was so disappointed that I would be so naive to think people would actually look at my resume online. To this day, my resume still sits collecting dust, when I could have had a hundred or more responses if the hype were all true. I would not recommend wasting your time on Monster.com. |
Helpful Reviewer: Anonymous 08-11-2004 Monster.com is a well organized, thorough and cool looking site. It is a high quality career site with great style. Their humorous logo makes them memorable and user friendly. Their listings are vast. The only thing they could do better is specialize more instead of trying to have everything jobwise. Their prices to link to employer listings from an employer's web site are high.

Good Site! Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2004 I'm a careers adviser and when training clients to use jobsearch sites (yes it does need to be done!) I always go to Monster first as the least daunting and most attractively laid out. |
Poor Reviewer: Anonymous 07-07-2004 You stand a better chance of walking on the moon then you do at finding a job at Monster.com.
|
Useful Reviewer: Anonymous 07-06-2004 Monster.com is a very useful site for those looking for a job. It has resume builder, it is organized and well layed out. The 'search' is very helpful in finding new employers.
|
Not user-friendly Reviewer: Anonymous 07-01-2004 I did not find this site user friendly. I love computers and have training in them. I am also very savvy with regard to web browsing and forms etc... Setting up a profile and account properly on monster is not an easy thing and the benefits have not been there once it was done.
|
Helpful! Reviewer: Anonymous 06-06-2004 This is a great site for people looking for work. I like how they leave your resume for people to see. I'm not sure if it was this site, but if it is, then another nice thing is seeing many job openings with detailed descriptions.
|
Cool! Reviewer: Anonymous 06-06-2004 This website is pretty cool. It's an easy way to get your resume out to companies looking to hire. I have my resume posted and I like how it is easy to navigate the site to find out information about companies, such as their backgrounds.

A Waste of Time Reviewer: Anonymous 04-06-2004 Poorly designed user interface, Monster constantly attempts to sell premium services and third-party products. Posting my resume on Monster has resulted in receiving many emails from employment and other agencies trying to sell their services and emails from questionable firms. Monster.com is a complete waste of time. I recommend individuals identify employers they are interested in and pursue career opportunities directly through employer sites.

Not too Helpful Reviewer: Anonymous 03-01-2004 I looked for several types of jobs on this website, web design and bartender. It mostly gave me results for web related jobs, which really didn't help too much.

Good Reviewer: Anonymous 02-30-2004 Although their user interface (especially on the employer side) leaves a lot to be desired, Monster.com is the best available site for both job seekers and employers. Why? Because it's all about scale. Just like an online dating service, the site that provides the numbers is going to be the best, as both employers and job seekers want options. The last I saw, Monster had well over 50% of the online job searches... Job hunting and recruiting are numbers games, and Monster can provide the numbers.
|
Use to be good Reviewer: Anonymous 02-05-2004 They were good when they first come on the scene, but now it seems like there's 50% bogus home business listings. I use local sites.
|
Confusing Reviewer: Anonymous 01-07-2004 I was sure that I could find a job on monster.com. But I'm still unemployed. Maybe it is because the site is so confusing. I wasn't sure what box to check or what field to fill in. Some of the other job-seeking sites have much better and easier navigation. |
Good For Passive Job Seeker Reviewer: Anonymous 12-12-2003 I really like the Monster job agents, which track jobs according to your preferences, and actually send you new jobs to your email daily. This is good for the passive job seeker. |
too many quirks Reviewer: Anonymous 12-07-2003 Monster.com is a clunky site to navigate. The site has too many quirks for users who want to load it with information. Placing detail is configurable, however, it is also very easy to lose the detail. Being broad on searches does not help.

Not recommended Reviewer: Anonymous 11-07-2003 I would not recommend anyone use this board unless it is for an entry level position, not in the sciences. It was easy to use and post your resumee, but that was all I can say about it. I posted my resumee and did not receive any calls from them. |
Not Up to date Reviewer: Anonymous 09-18-2003 Monster's job search tools are not up to date and not easy to navigate. There are many other web sites around that are much better than this website. |
Easy Reviewer: Anonymous 09-07-2003 I strongly recommend this site. It is easy to use, because after you view the job and you find that you are interested in it, all you have to do is click the mouse to submit the resume you have there online. |
Like It Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2003 Although I haven't found a job via Monster, I have been exposed to many career alternatives I overlooked in the past. Their resume builder is particulary impressive.
|
Very User-Friendly Reviewer: Anonymous 07-06-2003 As far as being user-friendly, this is a great site, but the main issue I have (which is a big issue for all the employment sites that I have visited), they seem greatly bombarded with a TON of ads from employment agencies, not from the companies themselves. If they could have a search option to eliminate postings from temp agencies, that'd be great.
|
Ridiculously Expensive. Reviewer: Anonymous 04-08-2003 I think it's outrageous that Monster charges you for everything. You cannot pick more than 1 relevent category for your posting w/o being charged for an additional posting. You cannot refresh your posting w/o being charged for an additioanl posting. It proved to be completely ineffective as well. The responses were horrible.
Unless you have huge budget, I would strongly recommend avoiding this site to find qualified candidates. Hotjobs and Careerbuilder are both much better in terms of effectiveness, value, and ease of use.
|
Not Useful Reviewer: Anonymous 02-17-2003 Big ad budget. Little use. I have yet to respond to a job they've suggested. This monster is all roar and no bite.
|
Unhappy Reviewer: Anonymous 02-06-2003 Very unhappy with the service! |
Grear Resource Reviewer: Anonymous 09-18-2002 I recommend this site to those currently searching for a job and even to those not looking right now. It is a great resource to be familiar with!
|
Success! Reviewer: Anonymous 09-07-2002 I posted my resume on Monster & I started receiving calls the next day. I actually accepted a position from a company that saw my resume on the board. I still work for that same company and we do all of our recruiting using the monster board. |
No Jobs Here! Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2002 I have been registered with Monster.com since 1998 and have been on the net since 1995 and I can tell you that online job boards are not good resources for finding a job. You may read the advice columns and forums and otherwise stay updated on interviewing but don't expect to find a job from **any** online job board. It is not realistic particularly in the current downturned economy. In fact, the good paying jobs that are available go to the buddies of those existing employees at the company with the vacancy so get out from in front of the computer and go network among living beings with a pulse. Don't expect to find a job online because it ain't gonna happen!
|
OK not great Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2002 The Job listings at Monster.com are plentiful and well organized. However, I keep getting way to much junk mail sent my way that I attempted to opt out from. Overall it's a decent site for standard fair long term work but not even comparable to Elance for the IT/Development positions which are only contract based.

Classifieds are better Reviewer: Anonymous 05-29-2002 The response rate I have had with this service is less than 1%, even though I have a BS degree and 15 years of B2B sales experience, plus two years in engineering school. And here lately, Monster does not even update me everyday, but about every 5 days, I will receive the past 5 days of e-mail in my mailbox.
I've had better responses from the local classified ads!
|
95% response Reviewer: Anonymous 03-28-2002 I've gotten about 95% response to the jobs I've submitted a resume to using monster. I never did call them back to set up an interview though but that was all due to me and my fear of entering the real world.
|
Some problems Reviewer: Anonymous 01-06-2002 Great concept at Monster.com. Inspiring, helpful and it makes it fun to be jobhunting, however the feeling of sending of your cv not knowing whether the employer actually has opened your application, and not getting a mail when the position has been filled, leaves you feeling a bit blind. Only way to get this working for you is to call companies after and check up whether application was received. Monster and the companies could do more for keeping applicants updated. Only experienced one company on there which actually followed up all the way through the process.

I recommend it! Reviewer: Anonymous 12-07-2001 This site offers security and good resources for all levels of jobs from entry-level to executives. Monster not only offers job listings, but a great resume-maker and lets you know about any account activity via e-mail. Monster sent me many offers that I followed through on and can happily say that 80% were legit. I would recommend Monster.com to anyone looking for what is out there for any job title.
|
Not Helpful Reviewer: Anonymous 09-17-2001 This service made me feel like I did not count. I applied to several positions and did not get a response from almost any of the companies, even though my skill set matched and exceeded most job descriptions.
|
Useless Reviewer: Anonymous 09-07-2001 Most of the job listings on Monster are coming from other agencies that try to get you to register you so they can collect money from the government saying they have a certain amount of people listed in their agency.
In my opinion if you want to get a job, look at a newspaper and do your own work because monster.com is useless.
|
The Best Reviewer: Anonymous 00-00-0000 Monster.com is the best job site on the web. They have hundreds of jobs at your fingertips. The best part about it is you can create your resume and when you find a job you want to apply for you just click on "apply online" and consider it done. |
